He was introduced into the Bigg Boss house as a designer par excellence, who’s `as creative with his words as with his creations’. While his creations are yet to be seen, turns out Rohit Verma is indeed quite `creative’ when it comes to manipulative actions.
Barely a month after the show premiered, he is being seen as one of the bitchiest people in the history of the show. And the contestants who’ve been with him on the show couldn’t agree more.
Recently evicted Sherlyn Chopra says, “I didn’t know about Rohit at all till I met him on the show. I never got positive vibes from him, and now that I’m out of the house, I realise that he’s more dangerous than the most poisonous snake.”
Kamal Rashid Khan, whose tiff with Verma led to his ouster from the show, adds, “Uski itni galti nahi hai. Rohit gay hai, aur gays ka character hota hai bitching karne ka. The show wanted a gay to bitch about the people inside. Once, when Poonam Dhillon was praying, he even abused her, calling her a “b***h.”
Contestants from Bigg Boss’s previous seasons, who’ve also interacted with him, are also not mincing words.
Sambhavana Seth says, “Even if he’s playing a game, he should realise that he’s also representing the gay community.
His behaviour leads people to generalise that the entire community is bitchy.” While Raja Chaudhary calls his behaviour “strange and manipulative”, Kashmera Shah says, “Although he’s no Rohit Bal, he fits into the category of a nobody trying to be somebody. He is a little bit of a drama queen in real life too.”
Zulfi Syed, who’s worked on a couple of shows with him, says he only knows of his work as a choreographer and not as a fashion designer.
A friend of Verma who has known him for several years, says, on condition of anonymity, “Rohit has a habit of bitching and he creates problems even among his friends.”
The viewers of the show, however, seem to be enjoying his antics. Akshay Sharma, a DU student, says, “I love Rohit’s unique sense of style. He’s a bit dramatic but has a clean heart.” Naqsh Khan, a member of a Delhi based gay rights group says, “Our community is watching Rohit’s behaviour in the show with a lot of interest. We would not want him to project a negative image of anyone who is a homosexual.” Natasha Sinha, a software professional says, “Rohit’s manner of speech is hilarious but he’s setting new benchmarks in being manipulative and cunning.”
